Robert V. (Van Schoick) Carr, (1877-1931), wrote poetry and short fiction that was frequently published in Western magazines. According to Carr, he came to Dakota with parents in 1890. Settled at Rapid City. Attended public schools at Rapid City, also the State School of Mines located at that place. Served with South Dakota Infantry in the Philippines. Upon return home
